the love of those who are unawakened
arises from emotions.

the love of those who are awakened
is born of wisdom.

this love is
impartial,
unconditional,
all-encompassing.

with hearts pure and clean
like newly fallen snow,

with patience impartial and accepting
like the earth,

with compassion broad and all-encompassing
like the universe,

awakened ones help others.

one who is free
from desire and sorrow
leaves all fetters behind
to pass beyond birth and death.

like a swan rising from a lake,
he moves on in peace
never looking back.

into each life
we bring nothing
from each life
we take nothing

life after life
we come
we go

letting go will end the bringing and taking.
letting go will end the coming and going.

problems
do not cause suffering.

the cause
is how we choose to react
to the problems.

when there are no thoughts
of giving to others,
of having offered,
of sacrifices made,

we are advancing
towards awakening.

a line drawn  on water
vanishes in an instant.
our lives are like that line on the water.
life is short.
do not waste it.

subject to
birth

the awakened person
still showers all with loving-kindness
and understanding
even when
cast out by relatives
scorned by friends
rejected by colleagues
ignored by strangers.

moral discipline
provides the stability for us to develop
meditative concentration
which enables our
innate wisdom
to arise.

PLEASE NOTE:

As from 30th June 2020 the Amitabha Buddhist Retreat Centre of Nanango will officially close its doors and will no longer be an official entity when it will be de-registered with Queensland Fair Trading at the next financial year. The current activity at present until such closure will be just the weekly Sunday meditative session from 9 Am to 11 AM - and there will be no more weekend retreats.

Thank you all for the support given the past two decades.
